In a remarkable and record-setting moment, 4-year-old Shabd Shaurya, a resident of Pune, India, delivered a TEDx talk at TEDxVBIT, held at Vignana Bharathi Institute of Technology (VBIT), Hyderabad, becoming the youngest TEDx speaker in the world.
Shabd presented his talk titled “The Power of Stories for Children,” sharing a thoughtful and heartfelt perspective on how storytelling shapes imagination, empathy, and learning in early childhood.
At just 4 years and 31 days old, Shabd surpassed the previous youngest TEDx speaker, Bennett Haried (USA), who was 4 years and 296 days old when he delivered his talk in October 2023.
This milestone represents a significant global benchmark, not only because of Shabd’s age, but also due to the clarity, confidence, and composure with which he communicated his ideas on stage.
